When people reflect about the phrase, “Celebrate Jesus” many of us think about Advent candles, garland and wreaths, nativity scenes or beautifully wrapped Christmas presents. At Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston, TX, we think of camels named Larry, Christmas carolers singing hymns next to a lit fireplace, children playing games and hearing stories of Jesus’ birth, donkey rides and a pregnant Mary to share the gospel.

The birth of Christ is something we should celebrate to the fullest extent, no matter the circumstances, and Northwest Bible Church in Dallas is doing just that. This year, their team really flexed their creative muscles to dream up a beautiful online Christmas Eve service for their online community. This season is a time for gathering together, for pondering, and for celebrating the birth of Jesus. 

Jesus actively sought out people and was committed to meeting people “where they were.” Brentwood Baptist Church’s Medical Dental Unit (“MDU”) is a perfect example of what that can look like in our world today.

ChangePoint Alaska, a local church in Anchorage, has a bold mission statement: to achieve “Life in Christ for Every Alaskan and the World Beyond.” In order to live out that mission and actively pursue that kingdom-sized goal, in 2018 they committed to a radical vision of launching 10 new campuses in 10 years.

Tess Nordick works in children’s ministry at Irving Bible Church in Irving, Texas. Before joining the church staff, Tess worked at IBM for ten years. Technology innovation has always been a big part of her world.
